Feb. 1st, 2005 06:31 amOK, I'm not a very big Buffy fan, I liked the concept, enjoyed the movie and watched some of the series. So, stumbling across this story was a bit of a shock. One, I unearthed from the very hit-and-miss bowels of fanfictiondotnet, but damn if this isn't one of the finest jewels I've seen unearthed from that pit since I found Vathara.
The concept's been done before (and mostly badly) but it's a "what if"... what if Xander dressed as something different on Halloween night? Like say... Obi-Wan Kenobi? The author takes his time and Xander struggles with all the knowledge he suddenly has access to and the dangers it presents. Xander has to work to develop his new abilities and the author keeps it all grounded with the fact that Xander is becoming a Jedi... not a geek with superpowers.
Lots of fun little cameos, both on and off screen (Charmed and John Constantine come instantly to mind) and there's a slow buildup involving a certain facility buried under NORAD. Jedi vs. System Lord, I want to see this fight!
The story is currently deep in season 3, with the upcoming Ascension of the mayor... I recommend checking it out!
